Artist Statement

I create art inspired by the incredible diversity and beauty of bugs. As an entomologist, I’ve spent my life studying these small but essential creatures—seeing not just their ecological roles, but also their elegance, resilience, and hidden stories. My artwork is a natural extension of this passion: a way to share the wonder I feel when observing a beetle’s iridescent shell, the patterned symmetry of a moth’s wings, or the graceful movement of a spider.

Through painting, illustration, printmaking, and surface design I aim to connect science and art. I invite viewers to look more closely and to find unexpected beauty in the overlooked. Whether I’m teaching or creating art, my goal is the same: to help people connect with the world of bugs, and through that connection, to better appreciate the natural world as a whole.
